I would like to narrow the topic of my post to a particular online store, analyze the strengths and weaknesses of its item card. But I tried to collect the text tips for different e-commerces’ sites.

1. Write a unique content.

It’s not advice, it’s a commandment. But there are some nuances. Some products could differ one from another very slightly. For example, mobile phones may differ in color, or have another certification or different memory. And so it will be a new product, and there should be a unique content on every good. Kills any inspiration. Yeah, I know!

In that case I would have focused all the efforts on writing a text that would urge to buy that product, and tried to send traffic to that very page (in this case the small nuances such as the memory volume could be used as a merit).

TIP: You can check the uniqueness of the content here

2. Include the keywords in the text.

It should be low-frequency keywords, synonyms I sometimes pick up in the Google, using queries like “~ price” or “- price”.

3. The elements of the selling text

3.1. Sell the benefit.

It fits to any goods and services.

High-tech product? Then it’s necessary to write: “You will have free time that you can spend with the loved one due to the speed of this device.”

Products? You can describe the energy value and the fact that they improve metabolism. The main thing – to know your target audience and what does worries it.

3.2. Sell the dream.

There is a number of products that people buy emotionally – such as perfume. Here, as no at any other commodity group, it’s better “to put some pressure on the senses.” You can promise women anything you want. Say that the men will turn around to look at them. It’ll helps, I promise.

3.3. Talk about the customer, his fears, and problems.

Write that he isn’t the only one who is faced with such difficulties and exactly this product will be able to help him.
4. Every fine detail.

Describe the characteristics of the product at the maximum level, be meticulous. Believe me, this will reduce the number of product returns.

5. Accuracy and specifics.

You have to know every detail of your product. There is nothing worse than be amateurs and write an inaccurate information. It’s especially true for the technology.

6. Use headings and subheadings

It helps to navigate through the text, as well as serves as a visual anchor for the reader.

7. Bulleted and numbering lists

Subconsciously, people estimate lists, as the most important parts of the text, and almost always read them.

8. Multifunctionality

One of my favorite tricks. Tell them how many functions your item can perform. Moreover, it shouldn’t be standard functions prescribed in the instructions from the manufacturer.

Here are the masterpieces of the selling texts:

“The best gift, of course, it’s honey!

This donkey will understand at once and for all!

Even a little bit, teaspoon – this is good!

Even more, the pot, and it’s whole! “.

“This pot is empty, it’s a simple thing, he’s not going anywhere here.

And because the pot is empty, the empty pot is valued much higher! “.

Remember how multifunctional the empty pot turned out for Eeyore, The donkey.

For example, many girls use the mobile phone screen as a mirror, and men as a lighter or as opener bottle caps.

Also, the fans of the tablets will appreciate your originality if you say that this device with super-tough glass «Gorilla Glass 2″ could be used as a cutting board.

9. Embed the customer reviews in the text.

10. Special offers.

Complete the description of the item card with the information about the discounts, promotions, and other special offers, if they exist, of course.

And the most important thing: Don’t forget about the call to action!
